Christmas Card Album...

When Cole was born and I started sending out Christmas Cards. I decided to start an album dedicated just to preserving our cards. It is an 8x8 album and I include our Christmas Card and a picture of the kids with Santa.

Advent Calendar...

This past December I bought Cole an Advent Calendar for the first time. He was really excited to get to find the day every morning and he wanted to try to find it all by himself (common for a 3 year old). I ended up giving him our desk calendar in the mornings so he could match the number from the desk calendar to the Advent Calendar. It was the perfect compromise so that he could find the correct date independently.

Letter of the Week - S

Here are a few book selections to go with letter S. Verdi is one that we actually had and it has been a favorite of ours for a while. Cole is very into non-fiction right now so the Snakes book was also an instant favorite.

Letter of the Week - S

Our last S activity was to make snowflakes. Since it's been cold here the past few weeks this was a huge hit. We started with a plain piece of white paper. Cole and I folded it several times and then I let him cut out some chunks of the paper. He was so excited to open it up and see what pattern he had made.

Letter of the Week - S

This is one of my favorite crafts that we've done. To go with our letter S week we made a snake our of a paper towel roll. I let Cole paint the snake and once it was dry we he cut it into 7 pieces. Some of the cuts were difficult for Cole so I did them. We punched holes in each side of the paper towel pieces. I used a price tag gun that I had to connect the pieces of tubing. You could easily use pipe cleaners, string or paper clips. Add some eyes and a tounge and your snake is ready to go.

Letter of the Week - S

S is for Snake. I drew a big letter S on a sheet of paper and let Cole decorate it. He choose to use the dauber paints. We added eyes and a pipe cleaner tongue. The snake eyes are crooked because I let him put them on all by himself. I really try to allow him to be independent whenever possible while we're doing our craft projects. I think it turned out pretty cute!

Cheerio Play Book...

Way back when he was much younger Cole received a few of the Cheerios Play Books. Even now, at 3+ years old, they still a favorite. I love them because he can sit and play with them in the morning while I unload the dishwasher. If you're looking for a great kid gift for a 1 to 3 year old I would highly recommend them.

Marshmallow Snowmen...

Marshmallow snowmen are not just fun to make, they are also tasty to eat. Use skewers and assemble 3 marshmallows on each one. Use melted white chocolate as "glue" to stick on eyes and other decorations. Ours look all crooked because I let Cole do most of them himself. Eat and enjoy!

Shape Tree...

Start with a large sheet of paper, 3 triangles for the tree, a rectangle for the trunk, and circle buttons for ornaments. We used glitter glue, which is hugely popular around here, to stick on the buttons.

Thank You Note...

I've always been a fan of creative thank you notes. Recently I made Lego Thank You Notes for Cole's 3rd birthday party. After Kiley was born I needed lots of cards and I needed them quickly. I took a picture we had of her from in the hospital, used photoshop to convert it to black and white, added some text. I printed the pictures and mounted them on solid colored blank note cards. There you have an adorable, personalized thank you note.

Letter of the Week - I

A couple of good I books. Curious George is a favorite around here so I always try to find one of those to incorporate into our weekly theme.
