Fun Friday Giveaway...

In light of recent weather events this week I want to know what's the longest you've ever gone with out electricity? For me the answer is 11 days. That's how long we were out a few years ago when a large tree took down the power line to our house. Leave a comment and I'll draw a winner on Sunday night. Have a great weekend!

I've been lucky and only had power off for 2 days, although it happens every few years. I hate having to throw everything away from the freezer :(

WHen we lived in North Carolina, we were without electricity for about 4 days due to one of the hurricanes. That was a long four days. I could not imagine 11 days!

We live in a "flicker" zone where the power goes out just enough to have all the clocks blink! And we're had that several times in a day so you just get everything right again... We've had some nasty weather (had a 1/2 hour thunder and lightning show at 1:30 am Tuesday) and that's just a normal summer day for us. Fortunately not long term though a few years back we flooded the basement and it was rather disgusting/annoying/sad to haul everything out to the dumpster. We were one of 300 houses in a town of 7500 people. Good luck over the week.

The longest was when I was in High School. We had a bad ice storm and it was out for a week.

Wow! 11 days is an incredibly long time! That's crazy! I am certain I haven't lost power for more than 24 hours, more like 4-5 hours. Now I feel really grateful!

Happy Weekend!

Two days, it was April 26-27 2002. I know this because it was my eldests 3rd birthday and we got a freak snowstorm that took out all power and heating. It was also the year we got him a BIKE for his birthday. We literaly got 5' of snow in one day that week.

I lived in Santa Cruz CA during the big El Nino storm in January of 1982. Our power (and heat) was out for three days while it poured constantly. We had to close off the kitchen and huddle up in the candle lit room in front of the gas stove for heat. Prett crazy. Can't imagine 11 days, though!

We had a terrible ice storm here in 2005 and almost the entire city was without power for at least a time. My house was without power for almost 2 weeks and my office was without power for over 2 weeks. Talk about going STIR CRAZY!!!! I hope we never have to experience that again . . . EVER!!!

Wow, that's a long time, I remember it was in the heat of summer with my 15 month old and my dh was out of town, it was out about 12 hours, but that seems like nothing compared to your 11 days!

As an adult, maybe 2 days tops. And I start to get the shakes without internet or TV...lol.

As a child, maybe 4-5 days? It was kind of fun though...no school and you played games and cards all day.

As a kid we had a big ice storm and I think it was about 6 days or so. It was fun as a kid because we played cards and games all day long. NOW... I think I'd die without internet and TV if it was out for more than a day. Sad, isn't it?

The most I've ever lived without power is just a few hours. When the hurricanes rolled through in 2005, our power never so much as flickered. But, one mile down the road, they were without power for days!

I only had to go 10 days, but Hubby and son went 16 days thanks to Ivan in 05. I evacuated to Jacksonville for a week.
