We have a couple that we do....

Some of my family volunteers at the annual B.A.D Ride each May. This is the Bikers Against Despair and raises money for the Toronto Distress Centres.

We also participate in the CIBC Run for the Cure each October. This is to raise funds & awareness for Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Our family participates as a team "Nan's Boobsters".

And lastly we organize Crop for the Cure - an annual fundraising crop in support of our Run for the Cure team.

Our family is really active with our church. Our Sunday school raises money for Heifer International- they buy livestock for needy people all over the world. Our women's group does mission projects all year long for soup kitchens, homeless shelters, back to school programs. There's too many to name!
THANKS!

We help out with the shelters in the area several times a year with a service type project. We also donate items i.e. food, toiletries, clothing, coats, books, magazines, etc. The books and magazines don't seem like much when there are so many things needed but the residents appreciate having something new to read.

When my kids started school I started serious volunteering! The CIBC Run for the Cure is one, The Terry Fox run is another one that gets our support. I have been a Girl Guide Leader for 10 years and we donate to the local women's shelter and Victims Servies with them. We donate to Samaritan's Purse, doing up shoe boxes every year. This year I've added blanket bundles for the local church, which include jammies, stuffie, book, toothbrush/paste etc. Our town rallies behind Kinettes and their Christmas hampers so that will be next to gather items for, And scrapbooking comes in as we are now collecting papers/stickers for the Stollery Childrens hospital in Edmonton. Lots of good causes out there; sometimes it's hard to get to all the ones you'd like to so we select the ones closest to our hearts.

Our family participates in Relay for Life year as I am a cancer survivor of 10 years (WOOHOO!). I also am involved in a womens service sorority (Beta Sigma Phi)and we raise money each year to provide the needy locally with help they need - in years past our group has donated over $2000.00 to a local FREE CLINIC for people who cannot afford medical care. We have given sheets for beds to our local Childrens Home, Wishing Star donations, we have made hats for chemo patients at our local cancer center this year....I could go on....it is a great group of women to work with and have fun with on the side!

Not sure if I'm too late on this one - but for the past 2 years we have participated in the Walk to Cure Diabetes, my hubby and my oldest daughter are Type 1 diabetics and we have received such great support from the JDRF. We have our own shirts and everything - it's our family team and we are really proud to participate
