Ultimate Lego Party - Lego Cupcakes

Instead of a regular cake I decided to make cupcakes with white icing and Lego chocolates on top. The chocolates were easy to make using colored Candy Melts from your local craft store and a Lego Ice Cube Tray. Just follow the directions on the back of the Candy Melts package and use your ice cube tray as the mold. Be sure to shake the mold for a while so that all the air bubbles get out of the little Lego nubbins on the tops of the bricks. Allow to harden and then they are ready to use. The best part about making the chocolates was that it could be done ahead of time. I started about 2 weeks before the party and just stored my chocolate bricks in a tupperware container until I needed them.

got stamps? - Scrapbooking & Stamping Longsleeve T-Shirt

This is one of my favorite new colors. The chocolate brown longsleeve t-shirt. With fall just around the corner this shirt would be perfect for those late night crops or girl's days out. The got stamps? design is just one in the new stamping apparel & accessories section on our website.

Kids Craft Display Idea...

This is a shelf from Cole's room where we display his art projects. There is a magnetic strip mounted under the shelf to hang up all his Letter of the Week projects. I rotate these out every week so that his most current products are on display.

Ultimate Lego Party - Treat Boxes

Our treat bags for the guests consisted of 2 elements. A brightly colored pencil box filled with some misc. Lego goodies and a small Lego set. I downloaded the font for the name tags at Urban Fonts. I filled the pencil boxes with Lego fruit snacks, some McDonald's Lego toys and a few other items. The small Lego sets I've been picking up on sale or clearance for the last few months in anticipation for the party and the pencil boxes were bought at Staples' back-to-school sale for just a penny each.

Birthday Countdown Chain...

About a week before Cole's birthday we made a Birthday Countdown Chain. I started with 6 strips of paper (there were 6 days until his birthday party). I let Cole color and decorate the strips of paper. Then we connected the links. Every morning he got to cut a link from the chain and every day we counted to see how many days were left until his birthday.

Ultimate Lego Party - Pinata

I made our very own Lego Pinata using a regular box and 6 Crystal Light canisters. I filled the box with all of our goodies and then wrapped it with a solid color paper. Cole helped peel the paper off the canisters and then I cut them to just 1.5 inches tall. Cover them with solid paper and glue them on top of your box. I threaded a pipe cleaner through the top of the box so that we would have a way to hang it.

The Very Lonely Firefly Craft Idea

Since last week we were busy preparing for Cole's Lego Birthday Party, I decided to take a break from our Letter of the Week and just pick some fun crafts for him. This one goes along nicely with the book The Very Lonely Firefly. We read the book and then made some cute fireflies using brightly colored band-aids.

Letter of the Week - T

Here are just a few book suggestions that we liked for our letter T week. Remember that your local library is a great resource for finding books to go along with all your letters and themes.

Letter of the Week - T

Our other T activities this week included a color your own Tissue Box that I found at Target. I let Cole pick which design he wanted to purchase and we sat together coloring it in. He now keeps "his" tissues in his room. We also did a little turtle. The turtle came from a kit my sister had. Cole was going to color him and then use stickers to decorate his back. As you can see he got a little sidetracked before he finished it. This would be an easy one to make at home with some green construction paper and random stickers.

Letter of the Week - T

Our letter this week is T. We made a T tree using some green paper scraps, red buttons and some cut up green felt flowers. Since I'm working with Cole on cutting I let him cut all the scraps for the leaves. We also made a Tambourine. This was an easy and super fun craft. I let him paint 2 paper plates, fill it with beans and then I stapled the edges. He was so excited to show this one to Daddy when he got off work. Dad of course immediately got his guitar and started singing "Hey Mr. Tambourine Man". Both of these activities were taken from the No Time for Flashcards site although, we altered them a little to meet our needs.

Scrapbooking Maternity Shirts...

One of the benefits of the changes we've made to our site is that we're able to offer a greater variety of colors and styles. This is especially true for our maternity shirts. Now, in addition to the "they grow up fast. scrapbook." design that we've always had we also offer "ScrapHappy", "smile. laugh. scrapbook.", "live. laugh. scrapbook." and "create. inspire. scrapbook.".

Ultimate Lego Party - Gift Bags

These were super easy to make and if you have older kids they can even help. You'll need brightly colored gift bags, I got mine at Michael's as a set, coordinating cardstock, pop dots and a circle cutter (or circle punch, or something to trace a circle with). Cut 6 circles per bag. I made mine 2 inches in diameter, but you may have to adjust the size based on how big your bags are. Use pop dots to secure the dots to the bags. We are going to use these for the kids to put their loot from our homemade Lego Pinata, but they would be equally as cute for treat bags.

Letter of the Week - P

The letter P. For this week's activities we made a purple/penny/pasta P and a paper plate pig. The nose of the pig is actually an empty applesauce cup that I had saved. I poured some red and some white paint into it and then let Cole mix it right in the cup. Once he was done mixing I let him paint the plate and then we just glued the applesauce cup upside down onto it. My inspiration for these two projects came from the No Time for Flashcards site, although I did alter them a little for us.

Ultimate Lego Party - Lego Soap

Cole helped me make a soap pump full of Legos to put in the bathroom on the day of his party. This was a super easy project and he loved being able to help with it. Get an empty soap dispenser. We had this one left over from another project, but you could easily peel the label off of one you already own. Fill with Legos. Add soap. We were surprised to learn the the Legos float inside the dispenser.
